Camp 2017 was again held at the Faith Mission Conference Centre, Portadown and ran from Monday 21st – Friday 25th August. Each morning before breakfast one of the leaders led a short devotional message to commence our day focusing on God and all his goodness to us.
During the morning meeting we learned how God looks after his people through the story of Esther and how God has a plan for each of our lives when we trust in Him and He will never leave us. At the evening meeting, we were reminded of what a missionary is and how when we know Jesus as our own Saviour we can be a missionary, even in our own family, neighbourhood or wherever we are.
Stephen told us the story of John Patton and his work among the cannibals in the New Hebrides, and how many of these people gave their lives to Jesus. Stephen also told us how the bible was translated into their tribal languages so that they could read the good news of Jesus love for themselves.
During the meeting we learned four different memory verses:
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
John 1:12 – “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Psalm 34:15 – “The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.”
1 Peter 5:7 – “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
Throughout the week there was lots to do with activities such as carting, crazy golf, pool, air hockey and other team games. Outings included Exploris, Tannamore Gardens, Rushmere Shopping Centre and Centre Point. God is good and kept everyone safe and gave us dry weather when we needed it.
Thank you to all the leaders and especially to the ladies in the kitchen who who ensured no one was ever hungry. We also want to thank anyone who prayed for the camp as we know that without prayer none this camp would not have been possible, and we pray that the children at this camp will come to know Jesus as their Saviour.
